Willet, bird in the sandpiper family. This gray- to white-colored shore bird measures about 16 in (40 cm) long. It has a long, thin bill and long, thin legs. It also is known for its loud call. The eastern willet (Catoptrophorus semipalmatus) and the western willet (C. semipalmatus inornatus) live in both North and South America.
