Platypus

Platypus, or duck-billed platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), amphibious monotreme (egg-laying mammal) found in Australia and Tasmania. The platypus has webbed feet and thick fur (equipping it for an aquatic life); a short, thick tail, and a flat, toothless, bill-like mouth used for taking insects and crustaceans off the surface of the water. Like echidnas, the other monotreme group, they retain many reptilian characteristics.
