Lucius Shepard Biography

(1950– ), Green Eyes, Life During Wartime, The Jaguar Hunter, The Ends of the Earth

American novelist, short-story writer, and rock musician, born in Virginia. His science fiction works engage powerfully with contemporary concerns. His first novel, Green Eyes (1984), raises ethical questions about medical research in Southern Gothic mode. Life During Wartime (1987) grotesquely illuminates American wars from Vietnam to Panama. The stories collected in The Jaguar Hunter (1987) and The Ends of the Earth (1991) are a promising display of his virtuoso ability.
