Used Cars For Cheap

I need a car, but it has to be cheap. Where do I find one?

The internet has made finding a cheap car so much easier than the days when all you could do was look in your local newspaper’s classified section. Now, you can search and compare prices and get the exact make, model and year you want for the price you want to pay. Some of the online middlemen of cheap used cars are Car Max, Auto Trader, Cars for a Grand and Cheap Car Listings. There is even a site where you can apply to receive a free charity car: 800charitycars.org.

CarMax.com is probably the most well known of the online car sales. On their page, click on “find a car” and then input your price range, the mileage limits you have in mind, the year and location you want to look for a car and up comes the list of cars for sale. Each resulting car has a small photo, with more if you click on it, and a brief description of the essentials of the car. Clicking for more details on the car will allow you to see information on body condition, engine specifics, and additional photos. CarMax gives a five day money back guarantee, and does a certified quality inspection covering 125 points on the cars they sell, devoting twelve hours on average looking over each car. CarMax also offers a limited 30 day warranty with a 6o day warranty in the state of Connecticut, and extended service plans up to 72 months or 100k miles.

AutoTrader.com asks you to indicate whether you are searching for a new or used car, and the body style, make and model as well as the location in which you are searching. You can confine your search to an area as small as ten miles or as large as “any distance”, which would presumably be nationwide. The AutoTrader also asks you to indicate a price range you wish to pay, the year of the car, and whether you wish to see cars being sold by dealers, private sellers, or both. Additional ways to search include the color of the car, the type of engine, mileage on the car, or other features.

Carsforagrand.com asks you to input your zip code and then it will show all the cars in your area that are for sale for under $1000. Today I found on this site in my own area a 1992 Chevy Beretta, a 1977 Datsun 280Z that has a bad paint job and needs both interior and engine repairs. There were many others, too many to list here. Clicking and selection of a car to buy will take you to eBay to bid on it. The 280Z currently has one day and twelve hours left to bid, the current bid is $305 and there have been just three bidders so far. If you want a classic car that is cheap and you can do the repairs and replacements, then this is the place to buy a used car for cheap.

Cheapcarlistings.com, another bid site using eBay, offers used cars for really cheap. They have cars so cheap because many of them are very damaged, and many have missing engines, tires, burned out interiors or other negatives. This is a place you want to go if you are willing to put work in on a car because you have the skills to do so and want to restore a car yourself. There are cars and trucks for $500 or less. At this moment, I am looking at a 1998 Saturn SL2 with one hour and thirty nine minutes left to bid and the current bid price is $501; 37 bids have already been made. The bidding site describes the damages to the car and the repairs that can be done. This one has a damaged bumper and fender, scratches on the body, a rip in the headliner, and it needs a new radiator and air conditioner condenser. If you are willing to undertake these repairs, then you might consider bidding on such a car.

Finally, if the economy has hit you so hard that you cannot pay anything but still need a car there is a charity car site, 800charitycars.org. On this web site, you can apply for a free car, describing your situation and showing a need based on disasters in your life, or qualifying as one of the working poor or military families.
