How to Build Credit with a First Premier Bank Card

Whether you have bad credit as a result of poor use of credit in the past or you have no established credit what-so-ever, not having a good credit score can be very troublesome. Not only does the lack of a good credit score make it difficult to get a credit card, it can also make it nearly impossible to obtain a loan for a car, home, or any other purpose. Because it is difficult for those without good credit to get approved for any type of financing, it can be very difficult to improve your credit score. Thanks to a First Premier Bank card, however, building or rebuilding your credit is possible.

First Premier Bank credit cards are intended for consumers who have less-than-perfect credit scores or have been unable to get approved for a major credit card. Most people are able to qualify for a First Premier Bank credit card even if they have filed for bankruptcy in the past. Because the credit cards are branded with Visa or Mastercard logos, they can be used anywhere credit cards are accepted. First Premier Bank also reports to all of the major credit bureaus, so using a Premier bank card can help to improve your credit score. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind to ensure that you are able to get the most out of a credit card from First Premier Bank.

Credit cards issued through First Premier Bank generally have much lower credit limits than other credit cards. Most have a starting limit of just $250. When you first sign up, though, the amount available will be much lower as a result of the numerous fees the company charges new account holders. Set up fees may vary, but generally they will amount to $50-100. You are also charged a yearly fee that is typically $50. If you go over your limit or pay the bill late, you can also expect to be charged some hefty penalty fees. These fees typically run between $29 and $35. First Premier Bank cards do not offer any cash back, airline miles, points, or any other type of incentive.

Applying for a First Premier Bank credit card is easy and can be done directly on their website. Some people may also receive pre-approved applications in the mail. Before you apply, make sure to carefully read all the terms and conditions, and do not apply if you will not be able to pay your monthly bill. If you fill out the online application, you will usually receive a decision within less than a minute. If approved, your card will arrive within a week or two. Although the First Premier Bank credit card is not the best fit for those with good or excellent credit due to the high fees and lack of incentives, it can be ideal for many people struggling because they do not have good credit. Using the card responsibly can be the first step in building or rebuilding an excellent credit history.
