Cranberry

Cranberry, berry-bearing shrub (genus Oxycoccus) found in wet bogs or heaths or in flooded areas known as cranberry bogs. The small cranberry grows in arctic and subarctic regions of Europe and America, while the large American cranberry is native to the northern United States and Canada. The red or bluish-black berries are edible, though somewhat acid in flavor, and are used in sauces, jellies, pies, preserves, and in making cranberry juice.
