Cost-benefit analysis

Cost-benefit analysis, comparison study of costs versus benefits. Used often for planning, budgeting, or altering societal programs, a cost-benefit analysis measures the relationship between actual prices paid and benefits received. If an analysis identifies that the benefits outweigh the costs, the program is deemed cost-effective. The drawbacks to this economic study lie in the difficulty of determining future costs and placing monetary value on intangible benefits.
