Corn syrup



Corn syrup, syrup prepared from cornstarch and containing glucose combined with dextrin and maltose. Corn syrup adds a smooth texture to creams such as those used in candies. It is used to sweeten baked goods, candies, canned fruit, ice cream, and soft drinks, and is sometimes added as a flavoring to peanut butter, catsup, salad dressings, processed meats, and other foods.
