Consumer Affairs, United States Office of, U.S. government agency that handles government activity related to consumer protection. Although this agency does not have the power to enforce laws or to resolve complaints, it conducts investigations acting on consumer complaints and disseminates product information. The U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs was created by President Richard Nixon (1971).
