Conch

Conch, name once applied to all mollusks—hence the term “conchology”—but now restricted to certain marine gastropod mollusks with large spiral shells. The shells have been used by primitive people throughout the world as trumpets. Conches are also prized as ornaments and for their meat. They live in warm waters.
