Comanche

Comanche, native North Americans of the Southwest, closely related to the Shoshone. Brilliant horsemen and fierce warriors, they were dominant among the southern Great Plains peoples, ranging into Mexico and stubbornly defending the buffalo hunting grounds against white incursions until the 1870s. Some 3,000 Comanche still live in western Oklahoma.
