These include the Los Angeles Ranges and the California Coast Range (in southern California); the Klamath Mountains (northern California and southern Oregon); the Oregon Coast Ranges and the Olympic Mountains (Oregon and Washington); the Vancouver Range and the Queen Charlotte Islands (British Columbia); and the Kodiak, Kenai, Chugach, and St. Elias ranges and the Alexander Archipelago (Alaska). These mountains are of widely varying geological origin and composition, the highest peak being Canada's Mt. Logan (19,850 ft/6,050 m).
