Club moss



Club moss, or ground pine, primitive plant of the order Lycopodiales with small mosslike leaves, related to ferns. Many club mosses have creeping or climbing stems covered with leaves. Their distribution is mainly tropical, but some live in the United States, where they are used for Christmas decorations. Some are used in the manufacture of medicines and of fireworks.
