(Leroy) Eldridge Cleaver
Cleaver, (Leroy) Eldridge (1935–98), U.S. black militant, a leader of the Black Panther party. His autobiographical Soul on Ice (1968) deals with his own experience of racial hatred and of the U.S. penal system.
