Arthur C(harles) Clarke



Clarke, Arthur C(harles) (1917– ), British science fiction and science writer. Clarke is best known as co-author of the screenplay for the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and for his detailed design for communications satellites in 1945. His novels include Childhood's End (1953) and The Fountains of Paradise (1979). In 1996 Clarke was awarded a Sri Lankan prize for his “contributions to the development and realization of communications satellites”.
