Chihuahua



Chihuahua, small terrierlike dog. It stands about 5 in (13 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs about 1–6 lbs (0.5–2.7 kg), and possesses a smooth or a long coat of any color or markings. The chihuahua has a friendly and loyal temperament. Native to Mexico, it is named for the Mexican state of Chihuahua, and is called the “royal dog of the Americas.”
