John Cheever



Cheever, John (1912–82), U.S. author. Noted for his irony and poetic style in portraying the lives of the upper middle classes in suburbia, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction (1978) for The Stories of John Cheever. His novels are The Wapshot Chronicle (1957), The Wapshot Scandal (1964), Bullet Park (1969), Falconer (1979), and Oh What a Paradise It Seems (1982).
