Carlos Chavez
Chavez, Carlos (1899–1978), Mexican composer who founded the Symphony Orchestra of Mexico (1928), which he conducted until 1949. His compositions include the ballet El fuego nuevo (1921), the ballet-symphony H. P. (1926–27), and Invention, for string trio (1965).
