Maurya Chandragupta



Chandragupta, Maurya (4th century B.C.), Indian emperor c.321–297 B.C., founder of the Maurya dynasty. He rose to power after Alexander the Great's withdrawal from India, extending his realm into Afghanistan. His grandson was the emperor Asoka.
