Catechism



Catechism, manual of religious instruction arranged in question-and- answer form. First appearing in the 8th and 9th centuries, catechisms were widely used during the Middle Ages. The Anglican catechism is included in the Book of Common Prayer, and the Baltimore Catechism (1885) is used by Roman Catholics.
