Cataract



Cataract, opacity of the lens of the eye, causing a progressive loss of vision. Aging is the most common cause, but cataracts may be hereditary or due to disease, such as diabetes. Cataracts are treated by lens extraction, followed by wearing corrective lenses or having a plastic lens implant.
