CAT



CAT (computerized axial tomography) scan, painless, quick diagnostic procedure in which hundreds of X-ray pictures are taken as a camera revolves around a body part. A computer integrates the pictures to reveal structures within the body. The CAT scan has created a new era in the history of diagnostic medicine. It is especially effective in the diagnosis of neurologic disorders and cancers.
