Charles Carroll



Carroll, Charles (1737–1832), U.S. revolutionary leader, member of the Continental Congress, signer of the Declaration of Independence. A Federalist party member, Carroll was elected to Maryland's first state senate (1777), where he served until his retirement in 1801.
