Venustiano Carranza



Carranza, Venustiano (1859–1920), Mexican political leader. He overthrew General Huerta in the Mexican revolution and became president (1914). The new constitution he supported established basic reforms in land ownership and national control of natural resources. Carranza fled an uprising led by General Obrégon, but was assassinated.
