Carnarvon, George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, 5th Earl of (1866–1923), English Egyptologist. His excavations with Howard Carter in the Valley of Kings area revealed tombs of the 12th and 18th dynasties and, in Nov. 1922, the tomb of Tutankhamen.
