Lázaro Cárdenas



Cárdenas, Lázaro (1895–1970), Mexican soldier and politician. He joined the Mexican revolutionary forces in 1913, rising to the rank of general. President from 1934 to 1940, he initiated many radical reforms, including the expropriation of land and nationalization of foreign-owned oil companies.
