Capuchins



Capuchins, Roman Catholic order of friars and an independent branch of the Franciscans. Founded (1525) by Matteo di Basico, a Franciscan who sought a return to the simplicity of St. Francis's life, the order is distinguished by the pointed hood, or capuccino.
