Burlington



Burlington (pop. 131,439), city in northwest Vermont; seat of Chittenden County. The largest city in Vermont, situated on Lake Champlain, it was chartered in 1773 and named for the Burlington family, who were pioneer landowners. A summer and winter resort, Burlington is also the state's manufacturing center.
