Boehmeria



Boehmeria, any of about 100 species of perennial plants of the nettle family. One variety, called false nettle, grows as a wild flower in the Eastern United States. Another kind, ramie, native to China and Japan, has been cultivated for fiber since prehistoric times. Ramie is used in industrial sewing thread, packing materials, and fishnet.
