Bobwhite



Bobwhite, any of several North American gamebirds (genus Colinus)of the pheasant family, often called quail or partridge. About 10 in (25 cm) long and reddish-brown in color, the bobwhite is named for the sound of its mating call and feeds on insects and seeds. Bobwhites travel and sleep in groups, called coveys.
