Robert Bly



Bly, Robert (1926– ), U.S. poet and translator whose works deal with American themes. Silence in a Snowy Field (1962) explores his native state of Minnesota and concepts of solitude and silence. The Light Around the Body (1967) is an anti-Vietnam War statement. He has also translated and printed works of foreign poets including Rilke. He was the recipient of the National Book Award in 1968.
