Blue Ridge Mountains

Blue Ridge Mountains, eastern range of the Appalachians extending south-west 600 mi (960 km) from Pennsylvania to northern Georgia. Grandfather Mountain, at 5,964 ft (1,818 m), is the tallest peak. The Blue Ridge Mountains are pre-Cambrian metamorphic rock with igneous intrusions. Constituent ranges include the Great Smoky Mountains and the Black Mountains.
