Mont Blanc



Blanc, Mont, highest peak (15,771 ft/4,807 m) in the European Alps, in southeastern France on the border with Italy. One of the world's longest vehicular tunnels (7.5 mi/12 km), exceeded in Europe only by the 10.2 mi (16.4 km) St. Gotthard (1980), was constructed through Mont Blanc's base in 1965.
