Black Sea



Black Sea, tideless island sea between Europe and Asia, bordered by Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russian Federation and Georgia and linked to the Sea of Azov and (via the Bosporus) to the Mediterranean. It covers 181,000 sq mi (468,790 sq km) and is up to 7,250 ft (2,210 m) deep. The Danube, Dniester, Bug, Don, and Dnieper rivers all flow into the sea. The chief ports are Odessa, Sevastopol, Batumi, Constanta, and Varna. The Black Sea coast is an important resort area.
