Betel



Betel, preparation made with the seeds of the betel palm. A masticatory, betel has been chewed as a stimulant by southern Asians and eastern Africans since ancient times. Betel is made by combining slices of the betel nut seeds with lime paste and other flavorings and spreading it on a betel pepper leaf. It is then rolled and chewed.
