Congress of Berlin



Berlin, Congress of, international meeting of Russia, Turkey, and major European powers held in 1878 under the leadership of Otto von Bismarck to settle problems created by the 1877–78 Russo-Turkish War. The resultant Treaty of Berlin redrew boundaries in eastern Europe, generally to the advantage of Great Britain and Austria-Hungary.
