Ruth Fulton Benedict

Benedict, Ruth Fulton (1887–1948), U.S. cultural anthropologist whose extensive fieldwork helped illustrate the theory of cultural relativism—what is considered deviant in one culture may be normal in another. Her classic work was Patterns of Culture (1934).
