Bemis, Samuel Flagg (1891–1973), U.S. historian. A Yale professor (1935–60) and an expert on U.S. diplomatic history, his books include A Diplomatic History of the United States (1936) and 2 Pulitzer Prize-winning works, Pinckney's Treaty (1926) and John Quincy Adams and the Foundations of American Foreign Policy (1950).
