Belisarius



Belisarius (c.505–565 A.D.), Byzantine general under Justinian I. He crushed the Vandals in North Africa and the Ostrogoths in Italy, taking Rome in 536. In 559 Belisarius was called from retirement to repel the Huns and Slavs from the gates of Constantinople.
