Amy Beach



Beach, Amy (1867–1944), U.S. composer. Her Gaelic Symphony (1896) was the first symphony by a U.S. woman. She wrote over 150 works, including a piano concerto (1900), a string quartet (1929), and a one-act opera, Cabildo (1932).
