Battenberg

Battenberg, name of princely family of Germany. Prince Alexander of Battenberg (1857–93) was prince of Bulgaria 1879–86. Prince (Louis) Alexander of Battenberg became a British subject, joined the Royal Navy, married the granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and changed his name to Mountbatten in 1917.
