Gregory Bateson
Bateson, Gregory (1904–80), British-born U.S. anthropologist, best known for his study of New Guinea, Naven (1936; rev. 1958), and Ecology of Mind (1972). He wrote Balinese Character (1943) with his wife, Margaret Mead.
