Sir James Matthew Barrie

Barrie, Sir James Matthew (1860–1937), Scottish playwright and novelist best known for Peter Pan (1904), his play about a boy who will not grow up. His works—including The Admirable Crichton (1902), What Every Woman Knows (1908), and Dear Brutus (1917)—range in tone from whimsy and sentimentality to satire and pathos.
