Clarence Lewis Barnhart



Barnhart, Clarence Lewis (1900–), U.S. lexicographer, editor of the American College Dictionary (1947), the New Century Cyclopedia of Names (1954), and The World Book Dictionary (1963). He was influenced by the linguist Leonard Bloomfield and the educational psychologist Edward Lee Thorndike.
