Mountain laurel



Mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia), evergreen shrub or tree in the heath family. Native to eastern North America, it grows on mountains. A shrub can reach a height of 5 to 10 ft (1.5 to 3 m); a tree can grow to be 33 ft (10 m) tall. Mountain laurels have pink or white clustered flowers and dark, long, oval leaves with pointed ends.
