John Morton



Morton, John (1724–77), U.S. patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence. In 1765 he was a Pennsylvania delegate to the Stamp Act Congress, representatives from 9 colonies who protested British taxation of American colonists. From 1774 to 1777 he served in the Continental Congress, representatives from the 13 colonies who founded the U.S.
