Lewis Morris



Morris, Lewis (1726–98), U.S. patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence. A member of the Continental Congress, he helped supervise the storing and distribution of military supplies during the Revolutionary War and also served as a major general of New York State's militia. From 1777 to 1790 he was a member of the New York state legislature.
