Mite

Mite, tiny arachnid, a relative of the spider with a rounded body and four pairs of legs. Mites feed by sucking the juices of plants and animals. Some are pests and may carry diseases, e.g. scrub typhus. Others cause itching and scabs when they get under the skin. Chiggers are the larvae of one form of mite.
