Mitanni

Mitanni, kingdom that flourished in northern Mesopotamia (now southeastern Turkey) from about 1500 B.C. A warfaring people renowned for their skills with horses and chariots, the early Mitannians fought the Egyptians for control of Syria, but the threat of a common enemy—the Hittites—caused these empires to form an alliance. Ultimately, the kingdom of Mitanni was captured in 1350 B.C. and became part of the Assyrian Empire.
