Minuteman



Minuteman, member of a volunteer militia during the American Revolutionary War, ready to take up arms “at a minute's notice.” Massachusetts minutemen fought at the battles of Lexington and Concord (1775). Maryland, New Hampshire, and Connecticut also had such militias.
